Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, who arrived in Turkey on the occassion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Turkmenistan, continues his contacts in Turkey.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow was first hosted by President Abdullah Gül at the Çankaya Presidential Palace.

After a tete-a-tete, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow was presented with the Order of State by President Abdullah Gül.

Several cooperation agreements were signed at the meetings between the delegations of Turkey and Turkmenistan. President Gül said the agreements will help carry the current state of relations to a strategic level.

Berdimuhamedow then proceeded to the Prime Minister's residence and attended the luncheon that Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan hosted in honour of him.

Afterwards, Guest President arrived at the Turkish Grand National Assembly and met its Speaker, Cemil Çiçek. He then addressed a general assembly session.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow said in his speech that trade volume between the two countries grew by 25 percent as against 2010 and stood at 3.65 billion dollars. Affirming the importance thay attach to economic, political and cultural relations between the two nations, Berdimuhamedow said they want this cooperation to become deeper.

President Gül hosted a dinner in honour of his Turkmen counterpart at the Çankaya Presidential Palace. Addressing the guests, President Gül said "Our aim is to build a bright future for these two brotherly and friendly countries."

Welcoming the support shown to Turkish entrepreneurs in Turkmenistan, President Gül noted that they will provide continuous support to new investments.

Turkmen President for his part said amicable relations between the two nations rest on firm foundations.
